Fall Speaking Tour: Goizueta School of Business at Emory in Atlanta, GA

Wow! We’re definitely having you back!  You give networking the concreteness that too often eludes the other “experts”.

Dean Vera, Assistant Dean, Rutgers Business School, New Jersey

It was great to be back on the campus of Emory University (http://goizueta.emory.edu/) – I had visited the school as a student over 10 years ago, and now I was invited back as a guest lecturer to teach a course in career management.  I have to give it up for teachers – by the end of the day, I was exhausted after teaching three 1.5 hours classes!  However, it was wonderful to connect with all the students and meet many of the advisors in the Career Center.

One of the highlights was reuniting with a friend who sat in on one of the lectures.  We both had visited Emory as students together, and now met on the same campus many years later.  At the end of the presentation, we took a few minutes to catch up, and right away she said “Give me some of your cards… I know some people that would want you to come speak for their group”.  Boom – the power of lasting personal relationships… this is what networking is all about!

Even though it was the most number of lectures/workshops I’ve done in one day, Im glad to report that the survey feedback was extremely positive, and 100% of respondents said they would recommend me to others.  That’s a great feeling to hear that – thank you Emory students!

In fact, one student emailed me saying “I’ve started to read your book, and I’m in the process of putting together the perfect 30 second pitch!”

That’s great to hear – I’m sure that perfecting the 30 second pitch will help you find your dream career! If so, I’ve done my job 🙂
